Well, it’s that time of year!  The school cheer season is winding down, and cheerleaders and dancers are finally getting a slight breather before tryouts begin and the whole cycle starts all over again!

So what does that mean we are preparing for here at Varsity?  SUMMER CAMP, of course!!  With your coaches signing your team up for a Varsity camp this time of year, we’re ready to offer you the cutest, fun, and (of course) most fashion-forward campwear options available!  And let me tell you – the options this year are rocking!

In case you weren’t aware, Varsity campwear is not only available in stock, but can be custom designed for your team. While at camp, teams need to be able to show off their one-of-a-kind squad pride and Varsity offers the highest number of customizable options. Through no more than four easy steps, your team’s Varsity Rep can help you create a look that is unique to only one team – yours!   Below is what needs to be done to get your own personalized campwear!

1. Pick a top! With five top styles in fourteen different colors, the basic tee or tank chosen is already on its way to being uniquely yours.
2. Choose your front and back designs! With twelve lettering styles in either one or two color options, the opportunities are endless. These colors include glitter, prints, solids, or even mesh in over twenty eight options.  And who doesn’t LOVE glitter and prints??
3. Choose your mascot! Forty eight mascot options can quickly show your team’s pride on who they cheer for.
4. Pair your unique tee or tank with matching Varsity shorts, and your team will be ready for camp!

I just realized I must have a thing for A-line this season… First, it was A-line skirt, and now I am obsessing over A-line dance dresses! Every time I turn a page in the 2012 catalog, BOOM, my eyeballs attach to the A-line! #HelpI’veFallenIntoA-LineAndICantGetOut

They are such an adorable ensemble with fashion forward features, and this season there are a ton of new A-line dress options that will have heads spinning this year. You will see some new athletic mesh with cotton lycra yoke, dazzle insets, hem panel and tons of lettering options.

They are even great without lettering as well, and the options for the back = perfection! I’m completely in heart with these pages in the catalog.

Today, I sat down with Stephanie Bennett, the mastermind behind the Varsity Shop products!

She comes up with all of your favorite sweats, tees, bags, hoodies, the infamous neon half zip jacket, and so much more! When you shop at Varsity summer camp stores and national stores, as well as online, this is the woman behind everything you are so excited to purchase there! #DreamJobRight?!?

Anyway, I could brag about this gorgeous girl all day, but I’ll let the interview speak for itself

Lacey: What is your title here at Varsity?

Stephanie: Product Development Manager
Lacey: Tell us a little bit about what you are responsible for in your job position.

Stephanie: Overall, I am responsible for developing the merchandise to be sold at the competition and summer camp stores.
Lacey: What is a typical day like for you?

Stephanie: A typical day for me would be creating new product ideas and interacting with my vendors to figure out the best way to develop the new product.
Lacey: What is your favorite part about your job?

Stephanie: My favorite part is when I am walking through the mall or just anywhere outside of the office, and seeing a young girl wearing the merchandise I developed. It just makes all the hard work feel worth every second!
Lacey: Why do you love working for VSF?

Stephanie: I love the excitement from the customers when they see the new product and knowing that what we do here at VSF has such an amazing impact on others.

Lacey: What made you want to be in the design/fashion industry?

Stephanie: I studied Fashion Merchandising in college and I’ve always known I wanted to do something in this field, I just wasn’t sure what exactly. I feel very lucky to be able to put my passion and college education into my career.

Lacey: What is your favorite trend for 2012?

Stephanie: I am completely in love with everything neon!
Lacey: Where do you get your inspiration for the things you develop?

Stephanie: I try to really keep a close eye on the market and new trends and come up with ways to incorporate that with what we do here at Varsity.
Lacey: What kind of trends will we see at summer camp/nationals this year?

Stephanie: You will see a lot of big loose tanks and new neon colors, which we are so excited about!

Lacey: What are you currently working on?

Stephanie: Right now, I am working on the 2012 Summer Camp Product Line and so excited about all the new things in it!

Varsity designers wanted to take an old school classic favorite and spice things up a bit! So their genius brains took a vintage favorite of pleats, with the modern must-have of an aline skirt, and combined them to have this one-of-a-kind look.

I am pretty sure by now you know that I am completely head over for all that is retro, so when I saw this combination of amazingness, I found my new favorite uniform pieces.

How can you go wrong with a modern take on classic pieces?!? Not to mention it is a GREAT way to make your team standout as not only fashion forward, but also as original, which is key in making your squad shine above the rest!
